Who is your cycling icon and why:
Greg LeMond because he was a gadget freak like me and I have fond memories of witnessing his Tour victories whilst cycling in France.
Why I started cycling:
Watching the Tour on ITV World of Sport.
Why I am still riding:
I enjoy racing and the technology.
Why I still Race:
I have a major competitive streak. In cycling it is not necessarily the fittest person that wins. Experience can make a much bigger difference than it can in running. Still can't afford to race cars !
Favorite Ride:
Road: Wente RR circuit (in either direction)
Nemesis Ride:
Mount Hamilton (always end up ill every time I ride it)
My Race Bikes:
Klein Quantum Race, Specialized M4 Works ATB.
My worst bike:
Specialized Rockhopper
Training Philosophy:
Quality not Quantity. I am not a believer in big mileage. Never leave home without a pulse monitor that records your workout.
Style:
Calculating, opportunist and aggressive.
Short Term Goals:
Top 10 placing in a Roadrace. Ride a NORBA event.
Long Term Goals:
Try to get back to the sort of fitness I had back in the early 90's without cycling becoming a total obsession.
