Job: Sr. Scientist, Amersham Biosciences

Hobbies: Walking my dogs, board games, rock climbing, SCUBA

Category: Cat 5

Preferred type of racing: Road

Memorable Milestones: Climbing Casper Mtn. on my aluminum Raleigh when I was 16.

Who is your cycling icon and why: Claudio Chiappucci. The truth is I don't know much about him. When I first started riding a lot and when I was climbing a hill, it was always Chiappucci that I was chasing or was chasing me. He is a climber, right?

Why I started cycling: I used to get most everywhere by riding my bike or walking.

Why I am still riding: Fun and fitness.

Why I still Race: After 2 races in 17 years, I'm not quite burned out yet.

Favorite Ride: Anything with hills.

Nemesis Ride: Going down windy roads (I'm a cornering chicken) .

My Race Bikes: LeMond Zurich.

My worst bike: My Raleigh, because it was stolen within 6 months of getting it.

Training Philosophy: Ride hard when on the bike, take rest days.

Style: Not formed yet.

Short Term Goals:

  • Sea Otter Classic - stay with the field
  • 19:00 up Palomares
  • Ride Mt. Diablo and Mt. Hamilton

Long Term Goals: Keep riding after my first child is born this summer; Ride some of the famous passes in the Alps.
