Why I started cycling:
Every 5-year-old wants a bike.
Why I am still riding:
I'm still 5.
Why I still Race:
It's lots of fun.
Favorite Ride:
Tough - I enjoy almost all rides. If I have to name one, I'll say the 30 minute blast I used to do from Blackwood Crescent in Edinburgh, down the Innocent Railway and back through Queen's Park skirting Arthur's Seat. I did this many times as I was getting into cycling in a big way.
Nemesis Ride:
First attempt to do a climb in the Alps, coincidentally, the same climb which was used at the mountain TT in the 2001 Tour. I had no idea what to expect, was totally unprepared and bonked badly with 1.5km to go. Still, it was fun on the way down.
My Race Bikes:
- '96 Klein Quantum frame with 8-sp Dura-Ace.
- '00 Klein Quantum frame with mixture of components including 8-sp Dura-Ace where it matters. My rain bike frame broke so I got a second Klein frame given that I like the other one so much. They both fit me really well.
- Torelli Track Bike
My worst bike:
Sacrilege!
Training Philosophy:
Listen to the coach...
Style:
At one with the bike.
Short Term Goals:
Cat 3 on the road.
Long Term Goals:
Learn how to race criteriums well.
