Well the best I could tell only three of us showed up: Kent, Santiago and I, but we all double dipped, so Fremont was represented in 6 races. All of us were in our beautiful new jerseys. Most exciting thing to report is that Kent upgraded to a 4! Not only that, if I understood him correctly he got 11th in his first race of the day or in may have been in his first race of the season. Anyway the way I understood it, Kent and Santiago raced in the 4/5 race, which I didn't see. Love to hear about it guys.
I did the 3/4 race with them and then the 1/2/3 race. In the 3/4 race Kent looked plenty comfortable riding in the pack and Santiago was causing trouble at the front as usual which was pretty good as he was getting over being sick. I hung in the middle to the back as I wasn't sure about racing two races and my mileage has plummeted since I started a 4 week training class at work. Anyway with two to go I was way back and with one to go I knew I was in trouble, so I thought I would explore the unprotected from the wind right side of the front straight when some guy goes by and I was able to get a draft to move up a bit. Then on the straight between 1 and 2 I moved up some more. Down the long back straight some guys took off and I went with them. Coming around the turn I was in reasonable shape, maybe 10th and some guys shot forward I again went and had I timed it better I could have even done better, but I got 6th!
As it was a long sprint and I'm not in that good of shape I was real tired for the second race. I pretty much rode in the middle to the back. With a two laps to go, my front skewer came loose from banging one too many bot dots, so I bagged it. I didn't have anything to sprint with anyway, as I was too tired. Oh well, at least it didn't rain. Hope everyone else got a nice ride in!
