What Santiago saw:
Category: Cat. 4 and Masters 35+ 4/5
Result: 9th, 7th and lots of primes!
I did the Sr 4 and Master 35+ 4/5 at Modesto, the last one together with Carl and Mike.
The first one went pretty good, missed a couple of crashes on the last lap, thanks to being at the front for most of the race, I finally got 9th on that one.
On the masters I was feeling better, which is normally the case when I do two races. On this one I went on an early break with another guy and we managed to stay away for around 4 to 5 laps, but at least for the first prime which I took, coming around him with a few meters to the finish. After that the whole filed caught us, but I stay battling for the primes in front and I took the following three, making a total of 4 primes for me out of 9. In the last lap I ended up pulling like half a lap and decided to go back 6 places to rest before the final turn, big mistake, because I couldn't make any ground on the sprint finishing on 7th place.
Carl did a great job, helping me by blocking in front on some of the primes and closing gaps when necessary, he did towed me quit a few times to the front, where I would jump a go for the prim. Great team work!!!

What Carl saw:
Category: Masters 35+ 4/5
Result: Mid-pack
Santiago, great job! it was fun facing with you on Saturday. I was feeling pretty good and though I didn't quite have the sprint for the primes I did have enough to get in front of the field and soft pedal as Santiago would go by and duel it out with only a couple of other riders for the prizes (by the way Santiago we had a great dinner at the restaurant, thanks). I still need to get better at anticipating where to be on the last lap so that I can go for a better finish during the sprint. The results for the Crit were Santiago 7th, Carl 14th and Mike pack finish.
