Hello Team, WOW!!!!! What a Blast!!!
Race #3 in the series of races being put on by Surf City Cyclocross. This course was at Aptos High School. Seven miles south of Santa Cruz. As you all know we got hit with one hell of a storm, which made for fantastic cyclocross racing! WHOO-HOO.........!! Andy you missed the best one yet! But understand that you couldn't make it. Hope your martial art training is going well!
Myself and Brendon(one of the Eden boy's) rode down together. We got a little lost. No surprise there! But we made our way. Weather was good, foggy, no rain until later. Heh-heh..........!!!
The course was approximately 1.5 mile with mud, asphalt, climbs, hurdles, and more climbs. WHOO-HOO...........!! The race started out fast, but slow- down in the second turn before the climb. Crash, actually two crashes and I got caught in one. CRAP!! I checked out myself and bike, couple little scratches. So no problem, back into the race I went. Slipping, sliding, and hauling butt. BIG SMILE!!
About half way through the race it started raining. I said to myself, ALRIGHT!! Now this is cyclocross racing. There was this descent of a grass hill with clay like mud and you had to zig and zag down. MAN IT WAS WILD!!!! It was like little to no control. BIG SMILE!!! I don't know where I finished in the race, because we had to leave right after, but I know I wasn't last, even after the crash. Hope to see some of you out there one day. (You know who you are! Smile!)
