What Brad B. saw:
Category: C
Result: Mid-pack
Great FFBC turn-out at the track....Gaelan, Garry, Scott, Pritpal, Ziggy, and me. We had racers in every group.
I'll give the short version....FFBC dominated! We were everywhere....several firsts, several seconds, and a smattering of everything else. FFBC was racking up so many placings and points, I'm not sure right of the totals. The results will get posted later and i'll summarize for this list (see link to results, ed.). I took a second place in the C's scratch race...Gaelan did a great job in attacking with 2 to go and getting the speed up at the front, which allowed me to nestle up to his wheel, and then have a nice jump when eric from Webcor/Alto velo took a flyer from the rail with one lap to go. Thanks for the help, Gaelan! And I picked up a few more points in another race. It was great fun!

What Ziggy saw:
Category: C/B
Result: 3rd/5th
This was my first night of racing at the track, and as Brad mentioned, we had a very large group of riders from FFBC. Because 16 C's were out last night, the group was split into two subsets of 8 riders.
My first event was an 8 lap scratch race in which I basically rode wheels at the first half of the bunch until a half lap to go when I put some power to the wheels for the win. The second event was a 10 lap tempo. For this race, I followed the wheel of a rider that attacked right from the gun. Nobody followed, so my breakaway partner and I agreed to take one lap pulls, taking turns for first over the line. Well, this lasted only about three laps, at which point my break partner told me he was cooked, so I just continued on to take the rest of the first place points including the finish. I won that race, and because I did it about a half lap ahead of the rest of the field, John made me race in the B's for the rest of the night.
This also meant that I got a very short rest before the next event which was a 10 lap scratch. Again I rode wheels until a half lap to go. I turned on the gas once the rider on the front blew and unfortunately took Scott with me. He smoked me at the line by about a half bike length.
The next event was a miss and out. This race was interesting because as it turns out, positioning is everything in this race. Garry and Scott managed to get the two best seats in the house and didn't really have to do anything to stay in contention. I think I had the worst spot in the pack as I was at the back, always having to speed up not to get caught out. In the end, I made the mistake of coming to the bottom of the track and getting boxed in and eliminated for a fifth position. Scott and Garry went on to take first and third.
The final event was a combined A & B 40 lap points race. Scott said this was my type of race, but I didn't know what he was talking about. My plan for this race was to just survive. On one occasion, I had good positioning and an opportunity to contest a sprint, so I did and took first. After this, two riders took off and I didn't think I had it in me to go with them, so I sat in. Those two never came back. Two point laps later, I sprinted again to beat the pack for a third. Again, two or three riders took off and again, I doubted my legs and sat in. At this point, all I had to do was finish to keep my points, so I did. For a reason still unclear to me, despite the fact that all the points for the race were already up the track, a couple of riders still sprinted for the final lap. My omnium results for the night are a third in the C's and a fifth in the B's
This was a fun night because FFBC had so many riders out. Scott and I had a little water fight which I think I lost, and Garry has asked the attendees of next week's track session to bring along some ice water to dump on his lap as he felt a bit left out. Cristabel was our cheering section for the night and she came along with a very welcome bag of bananas and an assortment of fruit newtons.
