Camp Parks CX

What Jason saw:

Category:
Result: Did not finish

First off thanks to Gracie, the family dog for being there. She made sure I was cheered on every time I passed by.

Neat course, but I wasn't in condition to race it and thus had a DNF. I ended up racing this because it was near by and rather than do a training ride, I preferred to race. The course had a lot of single track, 3 gully sections with a barrier at the top of one gully. Meaning you had to get off run down the gully then over the barrier. The Zig Zag portion had 2 barriers. There was 2 sets of stairs, and one minor climb. Really neat and fun.

Only problem was I was in no condition. I had moved the day before, came back from vacation the Monday before, no stretching. My low back was pretty tight, my "core" section, so I had no power to my legs. I knew things were bad when the guys I passed on lap two caught me and passed me again on lap 4 and I could not counter. By lap 5, with 2 to go, I couldn't carry my bike up the stairs so I pulled out. Pretty upset and embarrassed by my lack of performance. That and my dad was there and I had been saying I thought I could do well, but flattered.

So more stretching before this Sunday and hopefully I'll be able to make up for this piece of crap performance.
