Met up with Eugene and Larry. We pre-rode the course together. This time the course went count clockwise and had the beach section with only one set of barriers. I was surprisingly feeling really good and was not tired at all. Thanks to the previous day elite field they took care of the leaves allowing me to run a bit more tyre pressure.

Starts off the same as the previous day, we go up the first hill, sure enough dudes can't climb it because it is pretty deep dirt. So off the bike and again, passed 7-10 guys by running up the hill. Back down and over to the beach. By running the beach I was able to pass another 5 guys. Most guys got back on two early. The left side was deceiving as it went soft then hard then soft. Most guys bit on the first hard section. I just ran passed them all until just before the pavement started.

Passed dudes on the flat, over the barrier and back to the hill. Sadly as I started the hill in about 18th, I dropped my chain. (I'm working to get over this, lots of intense treatment) So all dudes I just passed, went by and I had to start over. Never regained my spot. Finished 25th. A bit bummed because I'd gotten a top 15 at the pace I was going. Oh well.

Well thanks for reading, districts in two weeks.

What EB recalls(it all blurs after a while).

Don’t know what happened to the rain, it’s still not here. Got there bright and ugly Sunday morning and signed up for usual fun and B Men’s races, then went out to preview the course. Runs the reverse of Sat’s race with the addition of the Beach and loss of one set of barriers. Being a UCI course, it had equal bits of tarmac, grass and dirt. These courses are usually pretty good for me and his wasn’t bad, but the beach and zigzaggy bits would play against me.

M35+A race

Good size bunch40+ or so it seemed. Got a decent start and got going at passing my peers into the first lap and a half. I tumbled big(no damage) in the zigzags, dropped the chain and lost 10 places, shucks. I could hold my own running the beach all the way to the road, but then would lose on the acceleration to speed. I could catch up to this bunch and it was fun, but lose it in the downhill zigs and have to chase again. I ran the beach as I wasn’t willing to trash my ksyiums with 40lbs of air in them missing a curb hop. The long lap allowed me not the get lapped for once and I raced hard chasing all the way home. 34th. The anagram of 43.

Recovered, ate, drank, and watched the pros try to ride the beach. Frischknecht got a bad start and only Wells and Wicks(?) could ride it and it was slower than running as Frischi proved reeling them in within a couple laps.

B Men’s

Re-warmed up for 20 min. on the trainer and jumped inline for the Bs. Rolled easy at he start as this was more training than anything. Surprisingly had a lot of gas and picked off a bunch of guys it seemed. Played to my strengths up the hills and went well. Chased caught and dropped a team Alan guy, but we had let the next guy get too far off. Actually started to get the zigzags down and my lap times were faster in this race. Good training, mybe next year I’ll ride with B’s instead of the masters. Finished 31st.

Districts in 2 weeks!
