What Tim saw:
Category: NCAA-C
Result: Mid-pack
The best thing about this race was that it started at 11AM and I
actually got to sleep in. So at the line, the official announces that
primes will be held on lap 15, 10 and 5 - interesting that the prime
laps were announced to the field. So, we start the race and I stay at
the front of the race for the first 5 laps, and actually pulled
through a couple times. I even chased down an attack, but that is
really hard, so I stopped doing that. I got very tired and went to
the back of the pack after the first prime.
For the next four laps we
rested, then on lap 10 (prime lap), the pace picked up and a crash
occurred behind me in corner 1 of the prime lap. We rested again
until the next and last prime. Again, another crash during the prime
sprint. Then, you guessed it, we rested, but only till the second to
last lap when the pace really picked up. I was around ~20th going
into the last corner of the last lap, but didn't have anything left
for the sprint.
I was pretty happy with this race, primarily because I didn't crash -
Cat C races are known for having several crashes every race. I
remember 4 crashes in my race. I also think it was kinda dumb that
the prime laps were announced to the field.
